Ah, I thought probably the only other volume I could comment on without derailing into rant territory was this one. It's a shame that much of the quality and integrity of the original source was displayed in the first two volumes (though others might disagree).
I quite enjoyed this volume due to its pacing and seamless transitions from plot-heavy scenes to humorous tiffs between Lief and Barda. I think, of all the volumes, this one depicts a truly vibrant relationship between the characters. Jasmine's cool, chilling exterior is mostly displayed here, though I suppose all the adaptations ignore this part of her personality.
I think the main reason it works so well in manga format is because it is not split up into two volumes, like the other books are. There is a constant and equal focus on each part of the story, with no particular scene taking dominance.
